Why You Shouldn’t Indulge In Too Much Of Shawarma Snack

I remember writing about making my first home-made Shawarma on this blog, I was super exited about making it at home each time I crave for it. You can see recipe here.

I notice each time I walk through the vicinity of Lagos and it’s different neighbourhoods, almost every shop in each complex I enter have a Shawarma stand. Unlike few years ago where despite the price only those who could afford it would  have to drive down to the likes of Mr Biggs or a well known eatery to buy shawarma.

But right now, those of us who fall slightly above the low income earners can gladly buy Shawarma whenever we crave for it.

Of course Sharwama is very  healthy to eat but bear in mind that too much of it isn’t good for your body. Why ? You may ask; In as much as we love this nutritiously packed snack,  it is quite important to note that anyone who indulges excessively in Shawarma consumption stands a chance to become overweight or even obese as the snack is of high calorie based on the ingredients and the average size of one serving. With this high calorie value, it could also spike sugar level.

So how do we enjoy this snack? One of such ways to enjoy the snack without the fear of high calorie is to share with a friend or your siblings. That way, you have avoided consuming about 1000kcal out of the recommended 1900-2000kcal/day for an adult.

Remember, it is meant to be a snack and most likely, you will be consuming other meals that will add to your calorie and eventually increase your weight wish if not properly controlled might result into serious health conditions.

Reasons Why You Need To Start Eating Cashew Nuts

There is something special about Cashew nuts that makes me never get tired of eating it. At first, I thought maybe its because of the creamy taste, that makes me keep wanting more.

You see, I noticed that Cashew nut is treated as a delicacy in India. A nut that is brought out during the  times of celebration. But generally, it is served as light snack.

So if you are yet to love this nuts, be fast about it as you might be missing out on very important nutrients that keeps your bones strong and healthy like, Calcium and vitamin D, magnesium, protein, omega-3 fatty acids, and vitamins A, C, and K are also essential for bone health.

Also, knowing all these benefit makes me crave for more especially the fact that Cashews are cholesterol free and their high antioxidant content helps lower risk of  cardiovascular, heart diseases and helps lower blood pressure.

So you see why I can’t stop craving for more!

Popcorn Snack

This popcorn really made the day for me.  So a friend of the house came visiting  and  as usual I  always want to entertain with one snack  or the other.

But since I had nothing as to serve, hubby just presented a bottle of wine.  But then he thought you have popcorn in the house, why don’t you serve it.

So I thought I  could share this since it’s an affordable and healthy snack. Do you know that  it’s a great way to excite  your guest?  Never say it looks cheap when you serve it.  Don’t be surprise they would love it especially when serve with chilled drink.

Always remember it improves mood, boost energy and satisfy cravings. Yes it’s a healthy snack.

Doughnuts: How Healthy Are They?

There are no “bad” foods, right? Well it is rather unfortunate that the local food we opt for as safer options may just kill us faster.

This fried snack called doughnuts or locally called “puff puff” are so unhealthy for your body that I cannot see any reason why people eat them.

Not only do they have zero nutritional value, but they also give your body an unhealthy dose of toxins, which should make the idea of eating them
really hard to swallow.

Doughnuts
Doughnuts are fried, full of sugar and white flour, and most all varieties contain trans-fat . High trans-fat intake has been linked to coronary heart disease, in which fatty plaques build up in the heart arteries, sometimes leading to a heart attack.

It’s too bad that most people view doughnuts as a breakfast food as, nutritionally speaking, eating a doughnut is one of the worst ways to start off your day. It will throw off your blood sugar and doesn’t provide
any real nutrients, which means you’ll soon be hungry again. You are better off eating no breakfast at all.

Rather than have unhealthy food especially when that hunger is unbearable, eat snacks that come from the oven, not the fryer to quench that hunger crave while looking to buy or make a healthy meal.
